About the position Republic Finance is seeking an experienced attorney with expertise in consumer lending and finance to join its Legal & Compliance team. This role is crucial within a collaborative and high-performing department, focusing on providing legal advice and guidance on consumer finance regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the consumer finance industry and experience in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Responsibilities • Provide expert legal advice and guidance on federal and state consumer finance regulatory compliance, laws, and legal issues. , • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise on assigned legal topics and stay current on relevant laws and regulations. , • Work closely with various departments to provide pragmatic legal advice while supporting company initiatives. , • Develop, review, and revise policies, procedures, and training materials to align with company strategies. , • Communicate and negotiate effectively with internal teams and external parties, including regulators and vendors. , • Make formal presentations to business teams and senior leadership regarding regulatory and legal aspects of initiatives. , • Collaborate with outside counsel as directed. Requirements • Law degree - licensed by, and in good standing with, at least one US state bar licensing authority. , • 4-8+ years of relevant experience in consumer lending and servicing legal and regulatory aspects. , • Experience with bank partnership lending structures is a plus. , • Knowledge of state consumer protection laws and regulations related to lending and servicing. , • Knowledge of federal consumer protection laws including ECOA, TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA, GLBA, SCRA, and UDAAP. , • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to contribute to a collaborative team environment. , • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and resolve challenges promptly. , • Ability to assess risks and provide pragmatic advice in a fast-paced environment. , • Tech-savvy with the ability to utilize proprietary software and databases. , • Effective communication skills for both in-office and remote work.
