We are currently hiring on behalf of a client, a well-established distribution business specializing in building materials. Job Overview: : $108,000 Type: 1099 Hours & Days: 9am - 5am Mon-Fri Time Zone: CST We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance to oversee the financial operations of a distribution business in the building materials industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in distribution or construction, with proven leadership in financial planning, budgeting, and operational finance. This role operates on Central Standard Time (CST), during normal business hours, and the selected candidate will report directly to the CEO and CFO of the company. Responsibilities: • Oversee all financial operations, including month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations, while minimizing risk exposure. • Analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations to senior management for decision-making purposes. • Conduct regular financial audits to identify areas of improvement and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records. • Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting policies and procedures. • Create functional budgets aligned with long-term departmental needs. • Perform account analysis, data analysis, and ad hoc reporting. • Collaborate with the IT department to troubleshoot technical issues related to financial systems and software. • Evaluate and implement new financial technologies and software to enhance efficiency and automation. • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in finance and technology and recommend relevant process improvements. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance & Accounting. • MBA or CPA designation is preferred. • 7+ years of experience in progressive accounting and finance roles, preferably in distribution or construction. • Strong technical skills and proficiency in troubleshooting financial systems and software. • Deep understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and compliance standards. • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains, Microsoft Excel and Power BI. • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
