This position involves contacting insurance companies to secure and expedite payments, as well as navigating the follow-up and appeals resolution processes. The specialist acts as a functional leader and reference source, requiring a high level of discretion and good judgment in decision-making. The role demands extensive knowledge of insurance billing, follow-up, and appeals, along with strong customer service skills. The Insurance Follow-Up Specialist serves as a vital communication link between MultiCare, patients, insurance companies, and departmental staff, performing complex implementation, analysis, and resolution tasks. In this role, the specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all accounts are properly billed and reimbursed, which is essential for the financial health of the organization. The position requires a proactive approach to resolving billing issues and a commitment to providing excellent service to both patients and insurance providers. The Insurance Follow-Up Specialist will work in a dynamic environment where they will need to adapt to various work situations and challenges, making their role both impactful and rewarding. Responsibilities • Contact insurance companies to secure and expedite payments. , • Manage follow-up and appeals resolution processes for patient accounts. , • Act as a functional leader and reference source for billing inquiries. , • Ensure accounts are properly billed and reimbursed to maintain financial viability. , • Provide excellent customer service to patients and insurance providers. , • Communicate effectively between MultiCare, patients, and insurance companies. , • Perform complex implementation, analysis, and resolution tasks related to billing. Requirements • Two years post high school education or AA degree preferred. , • Related health care or insurance industry experience. , • Knowledge of Federal and State billing requirements preferred. , • Minimum two (2) years patient accounting experience preferred. , • May substitute bachelor's degree in Finance or Business Administration for experience.
